Some facts about the WMass Social Action
Theater Group
Performances last approximately 1 hour.
Trainings run 2 or more hours.
Performances usually involve 3-4 scenarios with Questions and Answers.
Each scenario lasts about 15 minutes including Questions and Answers.
Trainings involve 1 model scenario, theater exercises and small-group,
facilitated creation of your own scenario topics.
We create new material on request, but this takes us longer. Bookings must, therefore, be scheduled well in advance.
We use an improvisational approach to development and performance.
We engage the audience in critical thinking.
Most popular topics include Domestic Abuse, Date Rape, Discrimination, Adult Education Issues, and Sexual Harassment.
The group has anywhere from 10 to 18 members at any given time.
During September 1999 to August 2000, we performed or trained 27 times for over 2,300 participants.
We have performed all over WMass, from North Adams to Greenfield, from Springfield to Pittsfield.
We have performed at state and national conferences.
The group began in 1994 with 5 people. Two of those original five are current members.
We are always looking for new, committed performers - especially minorities.
Over 6,000 people have attended our performances.
